Introduction
We could have called 2016 a successful year for OnePlus with the OP3 because other than battery life, it did not need much enhancing. But OnePlus made it better anyway for an extra of 40$.
The OnePlus 3T (The T stands for nothing, it is the same typical “S” suffix indicating many mobile sequels) is a refinement of an already great smartphone in the market with the new flagship you get the same premium metal body, the latest Snapdragon 821 processor to produce even faster speeds and sports a stronger battery with a super quick dash charging and sharper front camera. The one plus 3t looks and feels just like its predecessor the only differentiating feature of the new phone has that slightly darker shade of silver they call it gunmetal. No microSD card slot provided but the added 128GB storage option should be enough for even the most ambitious users.

Design
The OnePlus 3t has the exact same size and shape as its predecessor it is hard to distinguish instantly between the two devices they are quite similar so cases and other accessories will fit just fine, the only external difference is the color of the new gunmetal gray model, it is also available in midnight black and soft gold color as the original.
The body is still made of the same brushed aluminum feels soft and classy, the angled edges and slim bezels make it easy to hold.
Both phones are 0.29-inches thick and have 5.5-inches 1080p Optical AMOLED panel. You’ll find the same fingerprint sensor, USB type-C charging port, speaker grills and 3.5mm headphone jack. Physical mute switch and the volume are settled on the left side whereas the metal start button and a dual nano-SIM card slot are on the right side as on the OnePlus 3.

Display
The device’s display is fantastically bright and has vivid colors due to its contrast ratio and color reproduction. The panel has a dual polarizing layer designed to make the phone’s display easier to see in the brightest daylight that makes it best for watching videos and playing games.
The 3T uses the same 5.5-inch optical AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixel (Full HD) and pixel density of 401-ppi.
The OnePlus 3T equipped with a pre-installed Corning Gorilla Glass 4 screen cover which is a welcome bonus.

Performance
The OnePlus 3T has been boosted by 10% in terms of processing power compared to its predecessor. The new handset runs the latest version of Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset clocked at 2.35GHz, whereas the OnePlus 3 was equipped with Snapdragon 820.

The 3T coupled with the same 6GB of Ram like the previous one to make the flagship run faster. This means operations like unlocking the cell phone with the fingerprint scanner or launching apps are done faster.

A more meaningful improvement is the option to purchase the OnePlus 3T in a 128GB storage capacity. But decide wisely, as the dropped feature was microSD card expansion.

Besides, OnePlus expanded significantly the battery capacity, up to 3,400 mAh, without changing the original dimensions or weight. And integrated Dash Charge technology into the OnePlus 3, The phone receives 60% charge in just 30 minutes.

Camera
The rear camera features 16MP Sony IMX298, a 1.12 µm pixel size and an aperture of f/2.0. The sensor measures 1/2.8′ that can be efficiently focused at the distance of 29mm. It is also OIS-enabled, RAW image format supported and an upgraded EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation) for more stable videos and pictures to avoid jolts and shakes. OnePlus 3T has a single LED flash.

The manual shooting mode has been added to the 3T to give the phone’s users access to settings they usually get on a DSLR camera. They can control the white balance, ISO, focus and shutter speed to meet specific needs for an image.

The rear camera can shoot the videos up to 4K resolution whereas slow motion option allows capturing the video at 120fps. Moreover, the camera is covered by a protective layer of sapphire glass to protect it from being scratched.

This is finally where the OnePlus 3T starts to stand out from its predecessor model. The new phone has 16MP front and back cameras that make your selfies look marvelous for apps such as Snapchat, Skype and FaceTime even though it still fixed-focus instead of autofocus, and there is no front-facing flash.

Conclusion
Despite the price rise, it still makes the phone one of the most affordable smartphones, you just will not find another $400 handset with such specifications like a top of the line Snapdragon 821 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 3,400 mAh battery. But it is not only about the specs. The 3T is in every aspect a well-crafted flagship with beautiful colors.
